Watch TV shows for FREE on your computer
No CommentsFirst, this isn’t going to require you to spend a penny.
Ok, now that is out of the way. I recently wanted to watch a show from NBC. Unlike Fox, CBS and ABC, NBC has decided to force you to download special software to watch movies. The install process for the software was all screwed up as it couldn’t properly register a service (I did it by hand) and the "OpenCase" MediaAgent (MediaAgent.exe) likes to call out to other services all the time. And then after getting all that I kept getting the ad for Dove (not a bad ad, but the NBC software left a bad taste in my mouth).
In any case, I ran across this page that had problems with MediaAgent.exe running at 100% (and what reason does it have to be connecting to 3 different ip addresses?). It’s not that the NBC StoreFrontPlayer.exe doesn’t get the file it self, so the MediaAgent is doing something else in the background.
In any case, rather than get NBC’s spyware to watch their movies, I followed Martin’s suggestion and got the Veoh player. The only disadvantage to Veoh was that you have to register, and the pictures are a little constrained.
Oh, and you can watch NBC shows on it.
Strange that it’s easier to watch NBC shows on some other software than what NBC tries to cram (badly) down your throat.
Update:
Not that I was the only person compaining , but NBC now will let you watch the shows on their web site. So they aren’t as stupid as I thought.
