The lies of the “jobless” rate
No CommentsAccording to Bloomberg, the jobless rate fell to 4.8% even as 63,000 jobs disappeared. Leading me to wonder wtf?
What does the jobless rate really mean? It represents the number of people with absolutely NO work whatsoever, who are actively looking for work. That means that if you are mowing lawns (if you can get a job doing, that, good luck, because a friend of mine tried, but he didn’t speak spanish, so he couldn’t get a job mowing lawns), for 2 hours a day, you are not jobless.
But that’s okay, because as George Bush says that WAR is good for the economy (and it has been good to the Bush family), ThinkProgress reports:
CURRY: You don’t agree with that? It has nothing do with the economy, the war — spending on the war?
BUSH: I don’t think so. I think actually the spending in the war might help with jobs…because we’re buying equipment, and people are working. I think this economy is down because we built too many houses and the economy’s adjusting.
So the answer is to have more war, and maybe a draft, yep thats the ticket.
