Lew Rockwell has informed his readers of the fact that Reuters has published an article that states that Ron Paul’s book “The Revolution: A Manifesto” was the most positively reviewed book in 2008 at Amazon. Based on my limited research it was a close race between Ron Paul and Stephenie Meyer. Stephenie seems to be doing quite well (think Harry Potter well) with her Twilight Saga. Of course it helps to have a movie (err Twilight) that is based on your book come out.
This is a postive sign, that people want real meaningful solutions, and not empty slogans and then more of the same.

I haven’t written much lately, mostly due to the fact that I have been shocked and appalled by the rapid deterioration of what the press was calling a fundamentally sound economy last year (of course Ron Paul thought differently).
Of course I had hoped that the American people where going to see through the smoke and mirrors and act for real change, but instead they picked form over substance. Of course there is the argument that the America people are uable to really think, and that might be part of the problem.
After all we have people rushing out to comply with the government mandated change over to high definition television, to ensure that the people are even more enraptured by their televisions than they were before. Of course, I might be projecting a little here, because I have a hard time carrying on conversations while a television is running in the room, but then again, I don’t sit in front of a television all that often (but still too much in my mind).
But I digress. While the economic conditions are challenging, they are not unforeseen, just that the people who predicted this situation were ridiculed for saying that the system was unsustainable. Rather than listen to reason, people were all too willing to listen to people such as Madoff, who is a symptom of the problem, not the real cause.
It’s not that it doesn’t matter how we got to where we are, but how are we going to move forward. The people that bet on the false change that Obama promised would be wise to heed the refrain from HillaryIs44.org:
Obama simply cannot be trusted. Obama cannot be trusted on any issue. Obama cannot be trusted by his friends. Obama cannot be trusted by his enemies. Obama cannot be trusted.
Of course you there is nothing to say that the Hillaryis44.org won’t follow their leader in swearing allegiance to Obama, but maybe they have integrity. In any case, it appears that the United States is going to be in for some “interesting times” as the Chinese curse goes. There are rumors about the dangers that major efforts are underway to rewrite the constitution, personally I think that a constitutional convention is legally required, but won’t happen, because there is no need for the people in power to go through the hassle.
What I am saying is that the constitutional as it is written is only as valid as any judge feels like it is at any moment in time, which makes it basically worthless. Once we can look at that FACT and realize that we need to face the reality of today, rather than live in a fantasy world as we wish it was, and we are pushed self delusion from Oprah with the deceptive “The Secret” as a “positive” way to live. Living as if everything is going great didn’t do wonders for the allegedly pious and godly people that trusted Madoff, but then again they used to be rich and now they aren’t. It must be something that they “pulled in”.
If you want to see how “new age” thinking can warp reality, look at how Scientology has applied many of the new age thinking processes. The reason why Scientology was so successful was because it is essentially the same as any of the whole you create your own reality nonsense, and it claimed to have a easy to follow road map that at least wasn’t written in entire gibberish (unlike John Dee’s Angelic language, as if Angels would need to have a special language to talk in).
In short, what we should take from all of these revealations, is that we should wake up, and look at the world as it is, not as we might like it to be, and not as we might fear it to be either. For all the bad, there is still much beauty, and taking time to connect with that is as important as realizing that we only have control over what we really have, not some empty promises, or even pieces of paper with pictures of people on them and some numbers. Take stock of where you are, and you can plan better for tomorrow, but you can’t do that if you are expecting something to come along and magically save you (obviously some people are going to get magical money but let’s be realistic).
So for 2009, let’s try and live in the real world, and deal with the real issues, as our eyes are opened to the corruption that has taken over the world, let us also open our eyes to the beauty that life still has.

Yet another winter that it seems people just aren’t prepared for. At least that is my impression from the stories of the harsh winter across America. It’s not really the fault of people who expect the “news” to tell them the truth, since it’s rare to see the news not talk about Global Warming. Even the founder of the Weather Channel called it “the greatest scam in history”.
But then Global Warming has now been rebranded as Global Climate change, and I am sure that people will run around in a panic praying to the current defacto gods that they esteem to be saved from the changing climate.
Of course, Global Warming isn’t something new, back in 1938 there were newspaper articles warning about how the earth was warming up and, and the ice caps were going to melt (see actual articles at this site, original source seems to be this site though). Of course that gave way to fears that we were headed for another ice age, as temperatures dropped. The same non science is used for the ozone hole which has regularly expanded and contracted for as long as it has been measured, not that a grasp of real science is required by teachers, even to get a degree in science (note, I say this even though I have a degree in science/engineering with additional classified technical training in applied science).
Science classes only rely on simple experiments that “prove” what the class is teaching, and if you differ from the “expected” outcome, then obviously it’s because you did it wrong, and will get a worse grade, than someone who gives the mathematically expected result. In short school constantly teaches you to “give the right answer when asked”, which is to say the answer that the book says is right. Critical thinking is allowed only to the degree to manufacture consensus, that is to make fun of people who believe in intelligent design, or don’t believe in global warming or other beliefs that are not accepted by the group think.
Here’s something that science classes all point out at the beginning (well good science classes taught by people who understand science), the “laws” of a scientific discipline are THEORIES that are good working models. As such there may be exceptions to these theories, or the theories may be incomplete, or they may even be (though this is strongly discouraged) wrong, but they work for the most part so they are useful theories that we then call “laws” of science.
Unfortunately the world is not run by outcome based scientists (in other words empirical scientists), but by political scientists who seem to want the general population in a state of constant fear and shock, scared that the sky is falling, the earth is going to swallow them up, the ice caps are going to melt, or the world is soon to be covered in ice.
All of these problems the would be despots have the same answer, give them all the power, and they will fix the world. They will fix the protective bubble around the sun that protects the earth from harmful radiation, they will fix the ozone hole, cause rising waters to recede, and so on.
It’s interesting how we look back at people making the pharohs into gods, and think how silly they were, when it seems to me that we do the same thing.
But then again, maybe it’s just a conspiracy theory, because we know politicians don’t engage in conspiracies, except when the approved government sources say so.

For many years We The People Congress has been trying to get to court to argue about certain clauses in the United States Constitution.
For the most part their efforts have been a total failure. And after reading about the dangers of a constitutional convention, and then doing some more research I have a clearer grasp of just how badly the U.S. government has been ignoring the constitution.
A brief filed in the United States Supreme court (pdf) had pointed out that:
The Congressional Record demonstrates all 50 states have submitted applications for a convention.
There is no time limit set in Article V that the states must satisfy in their applications, nor does Article V permit recession of any application. Article V does not demand the applications deal with the same issue, nor does it establish any other requirement upon the legislatures other than a nu-
meric count. As 50 states have submitted applications for a convention to propose amendments and as this exceeds the two-thirds requirement of Article V, the two-thirds requirement is thus satisfied. It was the clear intent of the Founding father that Congress have no discretion in the matter of calling a convention.”And yet congress and the courts have decided that a Constitutional Convention is not required. Apparently Congress decides how to count the requests, whether they are “valid” and even whether Congress has to do anything.
The sad reality is that a small group of people (not always the same group, or even a group with always the same interests) can easily control the “government” of the United States. An example is the recent fiasco in Illinois with Governor Rod Blagojevich, and the state of Minnesota where the secretary of state is playing count the votes by machine and hand and then pick WHICHEVER count they like best.
While “politicians are power brokers, but most of them at least pretend to have the public interest in mind”, it’s sad that so many people in America are willing to let the politicians get away with PRETENDING to care about the future of America or the American people.
It boogles my mind that we have all these people coming out so strongly against the bailout of the auto industry (which I think is a bad idea), but many of these same people cheered for the totally obscene bailout of the banks, money that the banks are using to seize what little assets were not previously under the control of the banks.
Just recently Obama had announced that Global Warming ” is a matter of urgency and national security” which means that he feels he has a blank check to do whatever it takes to regulate the output of the Sun or anything else that effects the temperature of the planet in any way. Now, in all fairness the executive branch didn’t get out of hand with Obama, the disdain for the (alleged) constitutional limits on government go back in my mind to the Alien and Sedition acts, which was when the United States was engaged in an undeclared war against France, in 1798.
Another issue is the Natural Born Citizen clause where it appears that President Chester Arthur did not meet the constitutional requirements to become president.
In other words, the Constitution is a convienent excuse when it has some political usefulness to dupe the masses, but has all to easily been brushed aside FROM THE VERY BEGINNING when Congress, the Courts or the President felt like it.
It’s no wonder that judges tell people not to mention the constitution or law in the courts.
For over 200 years people have been running around crying about this and that being unconstitutional, thinking that the courts, or the elected officials care. They haven’t for all this time, why should they start now. That said, it’s hard to really blame the politicians for this, because there is over 200 years of history in America that shows the trail of betrayal, and yet we continually hope that this time things will be different in a better way.
I don’t know the answer to the question of how to FIX things, when so many people still refuse to believe anything is broken.

Angela made a point that while I threw the Bank of America into a reason why Blagojevich might have been arrested, I know that isn’t it.
Blagojevich is just power crazed (see I can make statements because this is non commercial speech and the IRS seized all my assets, the best anyone could do is get an injunction to stop me from saying something, the last time I went to court on that issue the judge decided it was a bad idea).
Shaking down the Children’s Hospital is just plain wrong. Unfortunately, the only thing different about Blagojevich is that he got caught. I firmly believe that most politicians (and that includes judges) make backroom deals to benefit a small group of people.
This doesn’t mean that they are entirely bad people. Heck, according the Hitler’s maid, even Hitler helped people out:‘There were cigars, jars of jam, flowers, pictures,’ she recalled. ‘We gave most of them away to poorer peasant families nearby on Hitler’s orders.’
Just because someone is nice on the outside in public doesn’t mean that they are “working for the people” as Blagojevich regularly claimed. Claiming to be “working for the people” is a classic dodge that politicians have used while pillaging the people. And they really aren’t lying, it’s just that the people that they are working for are their friends and family, and the rest of the people are just sheep to be fleeced.

While not all politicians might be corrupt, it does seem to that many people are in politics to help themselves. At least that is what is seems like today, as yet another Illinois Governor has been arrested. Amongst the charges against him are shaking down a children’s hospital and trying to sell Obama’s senate seat.
But what really might have done him in is his recent (the day before he was arrested) move to boycott Bank of America. Much like Eliott Spitzer, who just before his problems had written about how the states were prevented from doing anything about predatory lending, all of the sudden after a very slow moving investigation, the federal government had to act to stop Blagojevich.
Maybe it’s as Donald Trump has recently alleged, that “the banks engineered the disaster“, because while the manufacturing sector has to grovel and beg for pennies, truckloads of money are being given to the banks which the banks are using to buy roads, parking meters and every other asset that they can get at bargain prices.
The question is where does the Federal government get the money to loan to the banks? Strange as it seems, from the Banks themselves. The Federal government takes worthless paper from the banks (an attorney has a site where he explains why most people DON’T OWE ANYTHING on their mortgage) and gives the banks bonds which the banks then use to loan the money to the government. Strange, and insane, but people still don’t believe me when I tell them that the Federal Reserve is a private bank. Part of the problem is that while the United States Treasury PRINTS the FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES that people treat as money, the notes are only printed matter (not currency or legal tender) until the FEDERAL RESERVE issues the money at least this was how it was explained to me.
It’s sad that people are willing to let the banks have buckets of money, and at the same time stick the fork in the American manufacturing base. That said, I have to say that the unions who keep supporting the party whose president signed NAFTA into law are reaping what they sowed. Rather than support the real working man, unions have made backroom deals and cut themselves to elect democrats with blind loyalty. Of course the teacher’s union isn’t included in this, as they are still powerful, with ever more power over the shaping of the minds of children. It’s not that people are better educated today, in fact quite the opposite, as John Taylor Gatto writes:
Back in 1952 the Army quietly began hiring hundreds of psychologists to find out how 600,000 high school graduates had successfully faked illiteracy. Regna Wood sums up the episode this way:
After the psychologists told the officers that the graduates weren’t faking, Defense Department administrators knew that something terrible had happened in grade school reading instruction. And they knew it had started in the thirties. Why they remained silent, no one knows. The switch back to reading instruction that worked for everyone should have been made then. But it wasn’t.
What the schools are doing is not teaching students to read and think for themselves, but rather to be easily led. This is why even though there is considerable doubt about manmade Global Warming (now called Climate Change to cover all bases) you’ll see children write impassioned letters about how the world needs to be saved (and of course to the world also would need a new messiah).
But there are a lot of parties that are benefiting from having the masses run around. It seems that Ireland might sign on to the rebranded EU constitution because of the decimation of the national economies that the lack of oversight had caused. This destruction of nations is something that many people had predicted for many years, and were called kooks (for example Dr. Ron Paul just last year was called a kook for saying that the U.S. economy was in trouble). I fail to see how the world is going to be a better place if we all use a one world currency, but then again, I used to believe that the constitution meant what it said, but that was before I learned the truth about judges. Judges are just politicians who don’t talk to the public, they are the master of the backroom deals, and while I am sure there are a few who aren’t one of the reasons why I don’t take ads and turn the “crank on the money machine” is because I have read too many cases where advertising has turned what should have been protected speech into commercial speech, which is a sad statement of how little protection speech really has.
Examples of the loss of the “freedom of speech” abound, with notable examples being Ernst Zundel, and Dr. Toben. Google does control what people can say when they take money from Google, and such is the case when you take advertising, you become dependent on what your advertisers pay you for, so you too can make 100,000 dollars in a day or an hour (just like the Arbitrage Conspiracy System will allegedly help you do).

As I sit here, WND is getting together a package that people can send to ask the Supreme Court of the United States to review the Barrack Obama citizenship issue. It needs to be sent by tomorrow morning in order to reach the Court before they have the status hearing on the case that Phillip Berg had filed with them about Obama’s questionable pass. And today the We The People Foundation was running ads in the papers about Obama.
The truth is that the people who are elected are just puppets. When you look around you see that most of the elected officials with any status are lawyers, and most lawyer deify judges.
In fact, just the other day I say a large wall at a law school that said:
A tribute to judges
It really doesn’t matter much because regardless of what we think, in the end we are ruled by judges.
I often think that, just as judges now can have experts for different things, why should a judge be an expert in law? After all the hardest part about being a judge seems to be becoming one. After that, they are treated as an elite group, one for whom there are special privileges that the rest of the serfs can’t have.
If you look around, you’ll see that the majority of legislative positions are taken up by lawyers, and with rare exceptions, judges are attorneys, heck even Obama is an attorney!
Maybe it’s that people for the most part want to be ruled by an elite, told what to do, and when to do it, because that seems to be the society that has been created in America. America is run by lawyers and ruled by judges. Not too far from the comic book Judge Dreed, though of course our judges don’t get their hands dirty with the blood that they cause to be shed.
Why is it that we believe that Judges need to be experts in law, and yet they can issue ruling about marriage, technology and all other sorts of things that they are not experts in.
Judges don’t really care about something simple like the constitution, rather they hold the words of other judges as their sacred texts. Look in any lawyers office and you will see their sacred texts.
I think that the worst judges are lawyers, and it’s time that real people had a say in courts. Of course that won’t happen despite what Bob Schultz and Joseph Farah think.

This is the question I had to ask, after the latest version of TrueCrypt (6.1a) was released. When people questioned the lack of information about it on the TrueCrypt forum, they were send messages to basically shutup, and the thread is now locked and anyone who talks about the 6.1a release changes is threatened with being banned from any discussion on the TrueCrypt Forum.
Now TrueCrypt is a widely touted free open source drive and partition encryption tool, and I appreciate the work that people have done on it, but when they don’t have previous versions of the source code available and the answer to the sparse information about changes is to compare the old code with the new code, I get a little concerned.
This isn’t a slam on TrueCrypt, rather this is a comment about the secrecy surrounding the development of a widely used open source drive encryption tool that many people rely upon. When people use their forums to question some of the information, or god forbid ask for clarification about issues, they are silenced. And I find that worrisome.
